An accident occurred on Manning Mill and U.S. Hwy 41 early Monday morning that involved a fatality and entrapment. WBHF spoke to Bartow County EMS Public Information Officer Brad Cothran about the accident.

“There is one confirmed DOA (dead on arrival) and it involves a school bus and two vehicles, but that’s all I have at this time.” Cothran said that a 22-year-old male was trapped in the van and was transported to Floyd Medical Center with a possible fractured pelvis, leg trauma and head trauma. Cothran said that GSP will be responsible for releasing the names and identities of those involved. The fatal injury occurred to a 20-year old female.
Cothran said that the road would be closed in the area. “It’s southbound and with there being a fatality and the emergency vehciles involved, I imagine both lanes will be shut down.”
According to reports, the bus was empty and was sitting still. One car did strike a house in the area, as two cars were involved in the accident. Stay tuned to WBHF for more updates on this developing story.
