A truck driver and passenger were going northwest on Waterford Drive approaching Avon Court this afternoon when flames began emanating from the truck. According to the driver, they got out of the truck immediately. Shortly afterwards, the driver said there was some kind of explosion. The intensity of the fire was strong enough to melt a nearby stop sign.
Cartersville Firefighters rushed to the scene and put the fire out before it spread anywhere else. No one was injured. As the investigation is in its beginning stages, no cause has been determined at this time.
