On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Officer KEVIN HERNANDEZ with the Adairsville Police Department, initiated a traffic stop on a white in color Buick Lucerne, on Highway 41 near Legacy way, Adairsville, Bartow County, Georgia. Officer Hernandez observed the Buick traveling on Highway 140 on the right turning lane unto Highway 41 and noticed the left side taillight lens was broken emitting a white bright light. Officer Hernandez initiated a traffic stop and contacted the driver, KENNETH RAY HUNT.

Officer Hernandez approached the vehicle on the passenger side and introduced himself to  Hunt and advised the reason for the stop. At this time, Officer Hernandez smelled a strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed all four windows of the vehicle were rolled down halfway. After a short interaction, Hunt gave Ofc. Hernandez consent to search his vehicle. A short time later a plastic baggie containing over 25 grams of Marijuana was located down between the seat and the center console. Hunt advised he did smoke marijuana on occasion.

Hunt was charged with possession of Marijuana less than an ounce and transported to the Bartow County Jail without incident.
