An auspicious start for the Adairsville Tigers (2-1, 1-0) ended with a 41-10 homecoming with over the Coahulla Creek Colts.

The game started close to 8:00 after a rain delay. Coahulla Creek got the ball first and drove 44 yards on 16 plays, but had to settle for a field goal. On the ensuing kickoff, Savaun Henderson would take it back 80 yards to give Adairsville a 7-3 lead, which is how the first quarter would end.

Just 43 seconds into the second quarter, Adairsville’s Mason Boswell scored from two yards out to give Adairsville a 14-3 lead. After close to 11 minutes of exchanging drives, Adairsville got back on the board with 42 seconds left in the first half when Courtney Slocum scored on a 13-yard touchdown run. Nic Jackson would convert the 2-point conversion on the ground to give Adairsville a 22-3 lead heading into the half.

Coahulla Creek scored its lone touchdown of the game in the third quarter when Cade Bates found Michael King for a 14-yard touchdown strike. On the first play from scrimmage at its own 20-yard line, Mason Boswell scored 17 seconds later on an 80-yard touchdown run to give Adairsville a 28-10 lead following the missed PAT. Derrick Simmons scored on a 34-yard touchdown run and Malachi Gardner had a 37-yard pick six to give Adairsville its 41-10 final before the third quarter could even end.

Adairsville will look to grab another region victory next week when it travels to Haralson County for a 7:30 kickoff.
