According to GSP reports, the pedestrian and a witness were walking west on Bishop Road.  The pedestrian, Noah Cole, age 12 of Cartersville, was walking with the flow of traffic in the middle of the west lane of travel.  A 2008 Cadillac SRX was traveling west on Bishop Road, negotiated a curve, and entered a straight section of roadway.  The witness advised as the Cadillac approached, he moved onto the shoulder of the roadway.  The witness further stated the pedestrian attempted to run to the left and crossed the roadway but was not fast enough.  The driver, Travis Campbell, age 47 of Cartersville, stated when he first observed the pedestrian he was in the roadway walking with his back to him less than ten feet in front of his vehicle.  Campbell also stated the witness was on the right shoulder walking with his back to him as well.  Campbell swerved to the left and applied the brakes in an attempt to avoid striking the pedestrian.  The front passenger side bumper and headlight struck the pedestrian.  Cole was transported to Floyd Medical.
