FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Cartersville City School System will hold 2 public hearings regarding the renewal of its System Charter agreement with the State Board of Education.

The first of these hearings will be conducted during the regular School Board meeting on Thursday, October 9, which begins at 6 p.m.  The second hearing will be held on Monday, October 20 at 6 p.m.  Both of these meetings will be held at the Central Office at 15 Nelson Street, Cartersville.

These public hearings will provide interested stakeholders the opportunity to learn about the system’s intent and plans to renew its Charter status agreement with the State Board of Education, to ask questions, and provide input.  The district must submit its renewal application by November 1. The current System Charter expires June 2015, and the system will be seeking a 10-year renewed Charter.  The Charter provides the school system and its schools flexibility in operations and delivery of educational services in exchange for higher expectations for student achievement.

Questions about the Charter, renewal process or the public hearings may be addressed to Ken Clouse, Assistant Superintendent, at the Board Office on 15 Nelson Street, kclouse@cartersville.k12.ga.us, or calling 770.382.5880.
