Harvey Dwayne Thompson

Bartow County deputies were issued an all-points bulletin involving a silver Ford Expedition that was being rammed by a black Dodge Ram going southbound on Joe Frank Harris Parkway on the afternoon of March 1st.

A deputy saw the Expedition stopped at the red light on Joe Frank Harris Parkway at Grassdale Road with the Ram having collided with it with its tires still spinning while against the Expedition.

The deputy assisted the driver of the Ram out of the truck, placed the truck in park, and assisted the suspect to the patrol vehicle. That driver was identified as 51-year-old Harvey Dwayne Thompson of Aragon.

The driver and passenger of the Expedition stated they didn’t know Thompson and that he struck their SUV three times. Dispatch stated they heard one of the impacts during the 911 call. Both of the victims refused EMS.

The jail initially refused to take Thompson due to the level of his alleged intoxication. He was taken to Cartersville Medical Center, where a blood draw was conducted after a search warrant was issued for the blood. Then, Thompson was taken back to the Bartow County Jail, where he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, and aggressive driving.
