Fire and EMS responded to State Route 113 and Fiber Drive (just west of State Route 61) Sunday afternoon in response to a motorcycle hitting a passenger vehicle. State Route 113 was shut down.
The injured male, 37-year-old Alex Hubbard of Cartersville, was transported to Cartersville Medical Center. He died shortly after arrival.
This morning at around 5:30, EMS responded to a single vehicle accident on Euharlee Road near Westgate Drive in Cartersville. The Ford F-150 pickup was traveling eat on Euharlee road when the front drivers side traveled off the north shoulder, struck a utility pole, and overturned on its passenger side. This caused Euharlee Road to be shut down for the majority of the day. Georgia Power had to wait for a new pole to arrive. Power was restored after two p.m.
70-year-old James L. Blankenship of Euharlee was entrapped, confused, and complaining of pain all over. An air ambulance landed at Floyd’s Landing to transport the extricated patient. However, when Blankenship went into cardiac arrest, he was placed in an EMS unit and transported to Cartersville Medical Center. He died shortly after arrival.
