A wheel chair accessible van stolen from the home of a Cartersville couple has been found.  The van was reported stolen Saturday.  The 2007 Buick Terraza was taken from the driveway of Hayley Summers and Jason Smith.  Smith is a quadriplegic.  He told an Atlanta TV station that he suffered a serious spinal cord injury and has been in a wheel chair since 2009.

The couple lives in a neighborhood across the street from the movie theater on Tennessee Street. They are questioning how thieves’ took the vehicle.   The van valued at $80,000 has no driver’s seat, only an empty spot for Smith’s wheelchair. The van was modified with specialized equipment to meet Smith’s needs.  He works in Kennesaw and depends on the van for all transportation.

According to Summers Facebook page:

The police have located Jason’s van! It was dumped in the parking lot of a medical center about a mile from our house. There were some stolen personal items, and some damage to his adaptive driving equipment, but otherwise it is all in one piece and running! Thank you to everyone who shared this post- the man who called the police to report it said he knew it was the missing van he saw online and on the news. Thank you thank you thank you!
