Cartersville Police, with guns drawn, peacefully arrested 22-year-old shooting suspect Jaquavious Jaquail Carter at his residence on Jones Mill Road on Friday afternoon. Coosa Valley News reports that the Rome/Floyd County Metro Task Force and Rome Police Department wanted him for a shooting at the Sandra D. Hudson Villas in Rome. Police said the shooting yielded no injuries, but they confiscated various drugs and two guns at the shooting scene. So far, they are charging Carter with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a gun near a public highway. Additional charges are pending.

This incident is not the first time Carter was in trouble with the law.

In June 2020, authorities jailed Jaquavious Carter in Rome after allegedly pointing a gun at a victim and demanding their cell phone and cash while at an apartment on Dodd Boulevard. In that case, a jury found him not guilty of aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Authorities also charged him with pulling a firearm on another person in August 2019. Reports said that Carter pulled and fired his weapon around numerous individuals on East 13th and Crane Streets. He pled guilty to reckless conduct.
