ATLANTA – This upcoming Saturday, May 12, 2018 is an early voting day throughout the state of Georgia. Secretary of State Brian Kemp encourages registered voters to go to their county’s advance in-person polling locations and make their voices heard.
“Georgia elections officials work tirelessly to ensure that it is easy to vote but hard to cheat in our state,” said Secretary Kemp. “Advance in-person voting is a terrific opportunity for Peach State voters to cast their ballots early and get engaged in our electoral process.” So far, over 90,200 Georgians have already cast their ballots in May’s primary and nonpartisan elections. A full list of your county’s early voting hours and locations can be found on the Elections Division’s website or the office’s “My Voter Page” where citizens can also view a sample ballot, request an absentee ballot, or view other personalized election information on demand. Absentee ballots should be requested well in advance of May 18, 2018 in order to allow time for mail delivery and returning the ballot. Election Day is May 22, 2018, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Georgians can reference other important dates for the 2018 election cycle on the office’s website. Brian Kemp has been Secretary of State since January 2010. Among the office’s wide-ranging responsibilities, the Secretary of State is charged with conducting secure, accessible, and fair elections, the registration of corporations, and the regulation of securities, charities, and professional license holders.
