Cartersville, GA: Lewis Tumlin, environmental health manager for the Bartow County Health Department’s Environmental Health Office, recently retired after 23 years of service. “Lewis worked nearly a quarter century helping make Bartow County a healthier, safer place in which to live and work, and we appreciate his professional and personal investment in improving the quality of life in his community,” said Tim Allee, environmental health director for the Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District.” Chris Chester has been named acting manager of the office.
The health department’s Environmental Health Office conducts restaurant inspections, regulates and inspects new on-site sewage-management systems, investigates and inspects repairs to improperly functioning systems, inspects and permits tourist accommodations, inspects and permits public swimming pools, conducts rabies investigations and mosquito surveillance, and inspects and permits body art studios.
