The Georgia Department of Transportation just informed us eight minutes ago that they closed the two inside southbound lanes of I-75 at the bridge over Allatoona Dam Road, just north of Red Top Mountain/Exit 285 this afternoon at 1:30 to allow for work on repairing a damaged concrete slab at the approach of the bridge. Only one southbound lane remains open.
To avoid congestion and delays, motorists are advised to take an alternate route by exiting at State Route 113/Exit 288 in Cartersville, going south on US 41/Joe Frank Harris Parkway, and getting back on I-75 via Red Top Mountain Road.
