According to reports, this happened just after 11 Wednesday morning. An unknown male was shot and lost his pulse while in the vehicle. He was transported to Cartersville Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital. According to Georgia State Patrol, the man was shot on the interstate the near mile marker 288. Emerson police were on the scene of the traffic stop, no officers were injured. The GBI has been called in to investigate. Two right lanes are closed near the Main Street exit with no estimated time of reopening. Numerous emergency vehicles were at the scene including a Bartow County H.E.A.T. unit, Cartersville Police, Bartow County Sheriff squad car, Cartersville Fire Department and Bartow County EMS.
