FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Bartow County Board of Elections and Voter Registration reminds residents that the deadline to register to vote or update existing records for the 2020 Presidential Preference Primary held on March 24th, 2020 is Monday, February 24th.  As an open primary state, Georgia voters do not choose a party at the time of voter registration but instead will select one party’s primary election to participate in at the polls or when applying for an absentee ballot.

Potential voters are encouraged to take advantage of one of the many registration opportunities available in Georgia, including:

  • Visiting registertovote.sos.ga.gov
  • Downloading the “GA SOS” app for their smart device
  • Visiting the elections office at 1300 Joe Frank Harris Pkwy in Cartersville
  • Visiting select government service offices, such as the library, health department, or Allatoona Resource Center
  • Updating their address with the Department of Driver Services in person or online
  • Calling our office and requesting a form be mailed to you

Please note that all mailed applications must be postmarked no later than February 24th to meet the deadline.  Online options must be completed by 11:59 pm that day.  The elections office closes at 5 pm and will accept hand-delivered applications until that time.

For questions about registering to vote or any other part of the elections process, please contact our office at (770) 387-5098.
