A man was killed in a single-vehicle accident southwest of Emerson on Wednesday afternoon.

A 2003 Ford Taurus being used for mail delivery was traveling south on Bates Road. The driver, 73-year-old William Overton, was attempting to negotiate a curve to the right. It is believed that Overton had a medical emergency which caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle then crossed over a private driveway, struck a bush, and then struck several more small trees while going down an embankment.

Overton was deceased at the scene. There is no further information at this time.
