A Massachusetts man is arrested in Bartow and charged with fleeing from police in a semi-truck. Thirty-one-year-old, Joshua Michael Rocha was jailed Wednesday and charged with willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, fleeing or attempting to elude officers, aggravated assault on a police officer, improper backing, interference with government property, and improper parking. On November 20, 2024, at approximately 1:35 p.m., an Emerson Police officer spoke with the driver of an improperly parked tractor-trailer on the northbound exit ramp #285, in Emerson. The driver refused to provide his driver’s license and backed up into the front of the Emerson Police officer’s vehicle and fled the scene. The driver initiated a pursuit on I-75 NB mm 285. Several Emerson Police and Bartow County units assisted in trying to stop stick the tractor-trailer but were unsuccessful. The Tractor-trailer driver exited at #293, looped around and re-entered I-75 SB at entrance ramp #285. Emerson units utilized stop sticks a second time and disabled two wheels but were not able to stop the tractor. The driver exited off at exit #290 and stopped in the intersection of GA 20, blocking eastbound traffic. The driver was tased and removed from the tractor and taken into custody. The suspect was transported to the hospital by EMS for minor injuries. Two Bartow County Deputies sustained minor injuries.
