Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested 50-year-old Timothy Bunch of Cartersville at the scene of an accident on Wednesday night.
Bunch was driving a 2013 Ram pickup truck northbound in the right lane of Joe Frank Harris Parkway. 38-year-old Troy Magness of Cartersville was traveling on a bicycle northbound on the right shoulder on Joe Frank Harris Parkway.
The investigation reveals that Bunch failed to maintain his lane and left the road just north of Grassdale Road, making contact with the rear of the bicycle with the truck’s front-right side at around 6:28.
Upon arrival, Bartow County EMS found that Magness had a fractured leg and an altered level of consciousness due to a possible head and other trauma injuries.
Cartersville Fire personnel drove Magness to Bartow County College and Career Academy, where he was picked up by Air Life Georgia 5. EMS treated him on the way there.
Magness was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Bunch was not injured. He has been charged with failure to drive within a single lane, driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance, serious injury by vehicle, and not meeting tire requirements.
