BCSO deputies were dispatched to a location on High Pointe Drive in White on Friday night in reference to a trespassing report.

The complainant called to report a black male near her garage. While deputies were en route, dispatch updated the call to include a man from the address in a white Nissan Armada SUV shooting at a Ford Taurus and chasing it northbound on Bells Ferry Road. The Taurus then wrecked off the side of Bells Ferry Road in the area of Holly Springs Road and ended up upside down. The Armada parked on the roadway next to where the Taurus wrecked.

The driver of the Armada, 41-year-old Jonathan Herman, stated he heard a black male was near his garage and had run into his backyard. Herman then grabbed his revolver and chased after him. Herman drove the Armada east on Bells Ferry Road and approached the male, who was running towards his Taurus sitting at the three-way stop on High Pointe Drive and Pine Hill Drive. As the male was getting into the Taurus, Herman fired one shot from his revolver.

The male quickly drove out of the neighborhood and turned north onto Bells Ferry Road. Herman claimed he only followed him to get the Taurus’ tag number. The Taurus lost control in a curve and rolled over into a ditch. Herman claimed he did not know the male or his passenger.

The male told deputies that he has been dating Herman’s daughter for the last six months. He had gone to Herman’s house to get his phone and some other items, but parked down the street because he knew Herman and his wife didn’t like him. The daughter told him to run because her dad had a gun and was going to kill him. He got his items and ran back to his car while being chased by Herman. He said Herman fired a shot towards him. In regards to the accident, neither the male nor his passenger needed EMS treatment.

A witness stated Herman fired a shot towards the headlights of the Taurus.

Due to the investigating deputy determining that the man was not threatening Herman’s life, Jonathan Herman was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault of the male and his passenger.
