Volleyball

Cartersville volleyball swept its opening region matches Tuesday night in Carrollton with wins over Cedartown and Central-Carroll. The Lady Canes won both matches in straight sets.

The Lady Canes topped Cedartown 25-14, 25-12 and took down Central-Carroll 25-21, 25-16.

Cartersville is now 13-2 on the season and 2-0 in region play.

 

The Woodland volleyball team split a pair of matches Tuesday by defeating Paulding County but dropping a match to Kell.

Paulding County took the first set with the Lady Cats 25-22, but Woodland came back to win the final two sets 25-19 and 25-17 for the 2-1 victory.

Emmaline Payne had eight kills and 10 digs for Woodland in the win over the Lady Patriots. Madison Mayton contributed five aces and seven digs. Caitlin Hampton had three aces and six digs. Mayton finished with three kills, four aces, and four digs for the Lady Cats.

Kell defeated Woodland 25-20, 25-19.

Cass volleyball dropped a pair of region matches Tuesday night to Carrollton and Hiram at Hiram High School.

Carrollton defeated the Lady Colonels 25-10, 25-12 and the host Hornets knocked off Cass 25-11, 27-25.

Cass is now 9-9 on the season and 0-2 in region play.

 

Baseball

Cartersville baseball player Anthony Seigler played in the 18-and-under Baseball World Cup and represented Team USA on Tuesday. Siegler had two hits and two RBIs in Team USA’s 8-1 victory.
