Yesterday in basketball the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes boys basketball team started its season off on the right note with another win on Tuesday night. Cartersville beat North Paulding 72-64 with Jaylon Pugh leading the Canes with 31 points, while Perignon Dyer added 13. Cartersville beat Northwest Whitfield by a score of 72-64 on Monday night, to start off the season on the right note. Pugh has put up 52 points in two games.

The Adairsville boys basketball team beat Excel Christian Academy by a score of 79-38 on Tuesday night. Levi Blackwell led the Tigers with 21 points, while Ethan Belcher and Cody Henderson each had 13. Adairsville improved to 2-1 on the season, while Excel fell to 0-2.

The Adairsville girls basketball team also picked up a win Tuesday night, as it beat Excel Christian Academy 54-34. Josie Summerville led the Lady Tigers with 16 points, while Whitney Harris led the Lady Eagles with 14. The Lady Tigers are now 2-0 on the season, while Excel is now 1-1.

The No. 2 ranked Georgia Highlands College Chargers got another win behind a great effort from their team with 6 players in double digits to lead the Chargers to a 101 – 79 win over Handle It Prep Academy. Ty Cockfield led the way with 19 points, while D’Andre Bernard added 17 points. Massamba Dioum had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

With the win, the Chargers improved to 10-0 on the season.

The Chargers return to action at home on Tuesday, December 6th at 7:30pm versus Lawson State.
