Yesterday in basketball, the Cass Lady Colonels hung with South Paulding, a tough Class 6-A opponent, but ultimately fell 66-49. Cass shot 9-21 from the line and were outrebounded 42 to 37. Lady Colonel Jana Morning had 14 points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals in the contest.

The Cass boys basketball team didn’t fair much better, as it lost to South Paulding 53-38 on Monday night. Ashton Burely scored 10 and pull down five rebounds for the Colonels before leaving the game in the third quarter with a twisted ankle.

The Adairsville boys basketball team won its first game of the season Monday night, as it beat Gordon Central 67-32. The Tigers showed off a well-balanced attack, as fourteen players saw action in the game and 12 scored for the Tigers. Hunter Hice and Grayson Dailey led the team with eight each.

Today in collegiate basketball, Georgia Highlands, which is 8-0 on the season, will host Handle It Prep at 7:30. The Chargers are currently ranked second in the latest NJCAA polls and are the only undefeated team left in the GCAA conference.
