The Adairsville and Cartersville High School cheerleading teams each completed their seasons Saturday at state and both teams were fortunate enough to be in the state finals competition after strong showings in sectionals the day before to qualify. Adairsville placed third at sectionals out of 12 teams and then placed seventh in the state finals at the Columbus Civic Center which was a program-best for the lady Tigers. Cartersville qualified with a strong routine at sectionals, but the team’s pyramid collapsed in the finals, causing the Lady Canes to slip to 10th in the state. Woodland’s cheer team walked away with another state championship.

The woodland High wrestlers went home from Saturday’s trojan Invitational at Lassiter thinking they placed in second, but, after a recalculation of scores, it was determined that the school beat Buford for the Class 5-A title by one point. Woodland will go to Allatoona High for the highly-competitive Blackbeard Duals on Saturday.

Monday was also a big day for former Canes Softball player Hannah Todd, who signed a softball Scholarship to the university of North Carolina.

Yesterday in basketball the Chattahoochee Tech women’s basketball team fell to Gadsden State Community College by a score of 77-64. The Lady Eagles are now 5-1 on the season. Chattahoochee Tech men’s basketball team improved to 6-0 on the season with last night’s 110-100 victory over Gadsden State Community College.

Today in basketball, The No. 2 ranked Georgia Highlands Chargers men’s team will host the Fort Benning Patriots tonight at the Corral for a special Veterans Day Game with tip-off scheduled for 7:30.
