Today in basketball, the Adairsville high school boys basketball team will get its season underway as it will travel to Pepperell tonight at 7:30.

Tomorrow in basketball three other schools get their season started. Excel will travel to East Paulding at 6 PM, Woodland will host Pepperell at 6 PM and Cass will host Armuchee at 7 PM.

Chattahoochee Tech will take its undefeated record to a tournament held at Georgia Highlands. In Friday night’s matchup, the Eagles will take on Middle Georgia Prep at 5:30. Georgia Highlands will look to continue its early season success as well, as it will play Faith Baptist Christian-Academy at the tournament at 7:30.

Tomorrow in football, the Class 4-A playoffs continue at Weinman Stadium, where Cartersville will host Burke County at 7:30. Make sure you tune into WBHF at 6 PM for Countdown to Kickoff presented by Peachtree Planning, which takes you all the way to kickoff at 7:30. Make sure you also tune into the Terry Reid Hyundai Buick GMC halftime show and the Harry Daniel Insurance Post Game Party following the game.

On the subject of Cartersville football, Trevor Lawrence was named the WSB-TV Athlete of the Year on Wednesday. The segment will be aired on WSB-TV’s Sports Zone on Friday night at 11:20 PM. Because Lawrence received the award, Cartersville High School received a check form Montlick and Associates for $5,000.
