The Cartersville baseball team fell to Parkview by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Canes led early, but couldn’t hold onto a one-run lead and mustered just six hits on offense and are now 0-3 on the season. The Canes will next play Coosa on Saturday.

The Cass baseball team picked up its second win of the season and improved to 2-2 on Wednesday night, when it beat Creekview on the road by a score of 5-4. The Woodland baseball team was not as fortunate, as it fell to River Ridge by a score of 9-5, despite leading 5-2 after three innings. The Wildcats are now 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in region play.

In soccer the Lady Canes beat LaFayette by a score of 6-0 and the boys team won 7-0. The Lady Tigers, who are ranked 10th in their region, beat Model by a score of 5-3.

Today on the baseball agenda, Adairsville will travel to Darlington at 4:30 and Excel will look for its first win of the season when it welcomes Trion at 5:00.

Tomorrow in baseball three local teams are in action, with Woodland traveling to River Ridge at 5:55, Cass welcoming Creekview at 5:55 and Excel playing at Armuchee at State Mutual Stadium, the home of the Rome Braves, at 6:00.

In soccer three local teams are in action with times a 5:30. Cartersville will welcome Sprayberry and Woodland will welcome Cass.

In basketball tomorrow, Georgia Highlands College will host Chattahoochee Technical College in the second round of the GCAA conference tournament at 7:30.
