The Georgia Highlands College baseball team was swept by Walters State in last weekend’s three-game series at LakePoint Sporting Community. The Chargers fell in Saturday’s doubleheader 1-0 and 2-1, before falling on Sunday 12-3. Georgia Highlands is now 2-4 through the season’s first six games.

The basketball tournament is just about set, with only times and one opponent to be announced. Three Bartow County teams made the state playoffs in their respective classifications. The Adairsville Tigers are the No. 4 seed in Class 3-A and will host the No. 1 overall seed from Region 8 in Morgan County this upcoming Friday or Saturday, with the game time still to be announced. The Cartersville boys team lost to Sandy Creek over the weekend and therefore will not host a playoff game, but instead will travel to Marist, the No. 2 seed from Region 7 on Saturday night, with the game time still to be announced. The highest seeded team in its classification from Bartow County is the Cass girls team, which is the No. 2 seed and will host the third seed from Region 5 in Columbia on Friday night at 7:00.
