Woodland and Cartersville had football games on Friday night and both teams were involved in blowouts. Cartersville beat Central Carroll by a score of 59-9 and Woodland lost to Hiram by a score of 49-13. Cartersville is now 6-0 on the season and Woodland is 0-6.

The Woodland softball team clinched a state playoff berth on Friday night as it beat Paulding County by  a score of 4-0 in the region tournament. Woodland continues its region tournament play tonight. Cartersville softball split two games in a best-of-three series against LaGrange on Saturday as it won the first game 2-1 and lost the second game 5-4. Cartersville will look to secure a state playoff berth today.

Today in softball, Woodland will play Villa Rica to begin a double-elimination tournament for seeding among the top four teams in Region 7-5A and Cartersville will play an elimination game against LaGrange today at 5 PM. The winner secures a berth in the state playoffs. And Excel will host Mount Zion at 4:30 to conclude its season play with an eye towards the state playoffs.

Today in volleyball, Cass will travel to North Murray at 5:30.

Tomorrow in volleyball, all four teams are in action. Adairsville will travel with Murray County to Pickens at 5 PM, Cass will travel with Carrollton to Hiram for matches at 5:30, Woodland will travel with Paulding County to Kell at 5:30 and Cartersville will host Darlington at 6:30.
