The Adairsville Tigers’ baseball team lost Saturday at North Cobb 11-1 in five innings. Taylor Whitley drove in the lone Tigers run, with a solo home run in the second inning.

Adairsville is now 1-6 on the season.

Cass fell to Alexander 10-7, but beat McIntosh 7-4 in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Cass tied the game twice against Alexander, but was unable to pull out a victory. Owen Means, Bailey Campbell, Cody Johnson, and Zach Yancey had the Cass hits.

In the game against McIntosh, Cass scored two runs in each of the first three innings.

Zach Yancey started on the mound and picked up the pitching victory for the Colonels, tossing five strong innings. Yancey also had a 3-for-4 performance at the plate that included a two-run homer in the third inning.

Cass is now 7-4 on the season.

 

The Georgia Highlands Lady Chargers basketball team battled down to the wire but came up short 65-63 in the NJCAA Region XVII Championship game. A season that the Lady Chargers lost three players before the season started due to injuries, found a way to compete and come away with a 19-14 season record and a NJCAA Region XVII Runner up season.

Late in the fourth, Taylor Farley gave the Lady Chargers the lead on two free throws 52-51. South Georgia Tech would then take a 64-60 lead with 8 seconds remaining. GHC’s Taylor Farley drove the length of the floor and hit a three to make it a 64-63 game with 5 seconds remaining. The Lady Chargers had to foul and South Georgia Tech made the free throw to go up 65-63 and seal the win and the championship.

The Lady Chargers were led by Taylor Farley with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and Kateryna Khomenko with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block.

 

The Georgia Highlands College baseball team won three times over the weekend at LakePoint in Emerson defeating Cuyahoga CC (Ohio) 10-0 and Macomb CC (Mich.) 11-1 on Saturday and 14-4 on Sunday.

 Drew Wilson tossed a one-hit, shutout in the win over Cuyahoga. Wilson walked two and struck out eight. Brandon Bell homered for the Chargers and went 2-for-3. Devin Bilardello also had two hits and two RBIs. Grant Bodison added a hit and finished with three RBIs.

In the win over Macomb CC, Matthew Norton and Bradley Hood combined for a two-hitter. Caleb McElwaney and John White led the Chargers’ 13-hit attack with two hits each.

Georgia Highlands is now 12-8 on the season.
