In soccer over the weekend, the Woodland boys team was shutout by Kell by a score of 2-0. Woodland is now 0-6 on the season. The Lady Cats soccer team defeated Kell by a score of 2-0. They now sit at 3-4-1 overall. The Cass girls fell to Sequoyah Friday night by a score of 6-0. The Lady Colonels are 2-6-1 overall and 0-3 in region play. The Cartersville boys team beat Pickens 3-0 and the Cartersville girls team beat Pickens 4-0 in Friday’s contests.

In baseball, Woodland lost to Rome 2-1 on Friday. The Wildcats lost the series two games to one and now sit 2-7 overall and 1-5 in region play. The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes went 3-1 at the Perfect Game High School Showdown as they won Friday night and Saturday morning. The Canes beat the IMG Ascenders 7-4 on Saturday. Cartersville is now 4-4 on the season. Adairsville beat Cass 10-4 on Saturday. The Tigers are now 4-2 on the season and Cass is now 3-5. Georgia Highlands split their double header with Central Alabama Community College on Friday night. The Chargers then dropped both Saturday games as they fell to Triton College 9-4 and Jefferson College 2-0. The Chargers are now 15-13 on the season as they get ready for conference play this week.

Today in sports

The Georgia Highlands College Women’s Basketball Team will take on Gillette today at 11:00 for the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Lady Chargers are a 16 seed and will be taking on the No. 17 seed.

In baseball all five local teams are in action. Excel will travel to Whitfield at 5:00, Adarisvillle will travel to Armuchee at 5:30, Cartersville will travel to Collins Hill at 5:30, Cass will travel to Rome at 5:50 and Woodland will travel to Sequoyah at 5:55.

Tomorrow in baseball, Excel will host St. Francis at 5:30 and Adairsville will host North Murray at 5:55.

At the collegiate level, Georgia Highlands will host Darton State at LakePoint for Game 1 of their series at 5:30.
