The Woodland Wildcats baseball team won its season opener over the weekend by a score of 8-4 over Pepperell on the road on Friday.

The Adairsville Lady Tigers soccer team notched an impressive victory over the eighth ranked Bremen Blue Devils on Friday. Adairsville is now 2-0-1 on the season.

The Lady Cats also picked up their first win on the season, as they beat North Springs by a score of 4-1. Woodland is now 1-2-1 on the season.

The Cass Lady Colonels soccer team continued its winning ways on Friday, as it beat Cedartown by a score of 11-1. The Lady Colonels are now 2-0 on the 2016 season.

The Georgia Highlands Chargers baseball team improved its record this weekend as they won 2-1 yesterday and split a doubleheader on Saturday to take the series from St. Louis Community College. The Chargers are now 8-5 on the season and will next play Southern Union on Wednesday at 3:00 for a doubleheader.

The Georgia Highlands College basketball team is ranked second in the county and got its 27th consecutive victory on Saturday, as they beat the 18th ranked South Georgia State Hawks 90-78. The Chargers are now 15-0 in conference play and will next play on Wednesday at 7:30 against Handle It Prep.

Today there will be an intra-county baseball game in Adairsville at the Tigers will welcome Cass at 5:30.

Tomorrow on the sports slate, the Excel baseball team will travel to Mount Paran for a game at 4:30.

And in soccer on Tuesday, four local teams have matches with times starting at 5:30. Adairsville will travel to Armurchee, Cass will travel to Northwest Whitfield, and Woodland will welcome Cartersville.
