The Cass Lady Colonels fell to Columbia in the first round of the GHSA basketball playoffs on Friday night by a score of 60-41. The Lady Colonels led by three at the half, but Columbia would outscore Cass by 22 points in the second half, including 26-11 in the fourth quarter. Cass was led by Chanel Clemmons, Payton Stoddard and Esmeralda Thomas with eight points each.

The Cartersville boys basketball team fell to Marist 50-46 on Saturday night to be eliminated from the GHSA basketball playoffs. Cartersville found itself down when Jaylon Pugh had to exit the first half early with foul trouble, but remained tied with Marist at the half. Cartersville held a lead after three quarters, but Marist would outscore Cartersville by six in the fourth quarter to escape with a victory. Jaylon Pugh led the Canes with 14 points, while Perignon Dyer had 10 and Trace Fezzia added nine.

The Adairsville boys lost 71-40 to No. 5 Morgan County in the first round of the state tournament Saturday. Adairsville trailed by 17 after the first quarter and by 24 at the half. The Tigers ended the third quarter down by just 12, but unfortunately, the comeback would end there.

The Woodland Wildcats beat the Adairsville Tigers for the second time this season to improve to 3-0, while Adairsville dropped to 0-2. Grayson Bagwell got the win throwing 4 innings with 3 strikeouts and one earned run. Trenton Harrison and Cauy Williams both had solo home runs, while Hunter Reaid had a 3-run double.

The Cass Colonels and Adairsville Tigers had a tie-game after seven innings and would go nine to reach a decision. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they would remain winless on the season after Cass scored four runs in the top of the ninth to improve to 3-0 on the season, while Adairsville would fall to 0-3. Bailey Campbell and Tyler Hendon homered for the Colonels, while Zach Yancey earned the win after pitching three shutout innings in relief.

Cartersville baseball beat Mill Creek 4-3 in the first of two games it would play on Saturday. Jacob Fowler hit a two-run single with two outs in the fifth inning for the go-ahead runs. Cartersville beat No. 8 Marist 2-1. Jake Gooch had 2 hits, including a double, while Anthony Seigler pitched five shutout innings for the win. Spencer Dickey picked up the save for the Canes.
