A fatal accident occurred on Peeples Valley Road in Cartersville on Tuesday evening. According to the Georgia State Patrol, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling south on Peeples Valley Road, approaching Valleydale Drive. A 2016 Mercedes Benz was traveling north on Peeples Valley Road. The Cobalt left the east side of the roadway, striking several trees. It then rotated, reentered the roadway, and struck the Mercedes. Phillip D. Bagley, age 30 of Cartersville, was the passenger of the Cobalt and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is conducting a follow-up investigation. Charges are pending.
