Law enforcement officials perform life-saving measures on a man with serious injuries from a motorcycle accident Sunday.  According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the accident occurred, on July 5, 2020, at approximately 9:15 p.m.  A motorcycle steered by 56 year old, Mark Ensley of Cartersville was traveling west on Old Alabama Road.  While negotiating a slight left curve the rider of the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway.   The right side of the motorcycle struck the end of a concrete guard rail.  Impact with the guardrail\concrete barrier severed the right leg of the driver and threw his passenger, Katie Wiggins of Cartersville off the bike. The driver was airlifted to Grady.

Troopers, Holman, Trooper Kynard, and Bartow County Deputy Murchison performed life-saving measures on Ensley while awaiting the arrival of EMS.  They attempted to apply a tourniquet to Ensley’s wound but were unsuccessful due to the extent of the injury.  They were able to alternate applying heavy pressure to the wound to minimize the blood loss until EMS arrived.  Upon EMS’ arrival, Deputy Murchison was able to assist them with applying a tourniquet to get him prepared for transport.  GSP officials commend these Troopers and this Deputy did an outstanding job.
