An identity theft case has led to a couple of arrests in Cartersville. On Wednesday, an Alabama resident filed an incident report with the Cartersville Police Department. The victim’s name, social security number and date of birth were used to gain employment through a temporary staffing company in Cartersville. Through the course of the investigation, investigators learned that the unknown Hispanic female suspect in this case listed a home address of 65 White Oak Drive.
This morning at approximately 9:40, officers approached and knocked on the front door of the residence. A Hispanic female answered the door, but when officers identified themselves, the subject quickly slammed and locked the door.
At approximately 11:08, investigators received court authorization to enter and search the residence. Officers made entry into the residence, announced their presence, and began giving clear verbal commands. Two adult females inside of the residence refused to comply. They were then advised that both were under arrest. Both physically resisted arrest, and officers were forced to physically restrain both suspects. During the altercation, one of the suspects struck an officer in the face with her hand/fist. The entire altercation occurred in the presence of an eight-year-old child and eleven-year-old child.
During the subsequent search of the residence, investigators located and seized multiple documents and/or identification information, to include a Social Security Card in the name of the victim and a fraudulent Georgia Identification Card, which displayed the victim’s information, accompanied by a photograph of the primary identity theft suspect, who is tentatively identified as Clara Mojica Uriostigui. Both suspects refused to provide any identification or arrest booking information to the arresting officers and/or Deputies at the Bartow County Jail.
At this time, investigators are working with Immigration Officials in an attempt to fully identify both defendants and determine their immigration status.
