A trooper from the Cartersville Post of the Georgia State Patrol shoots a suspect involved in a chase with police Friday.   According to Georgia State Patrol reports, the Aragon Police Department requested assistance while in pursuit of a gray passenger car. The pursuing officer requested help from the Georgia State Patrol, at 11:01 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2021. A trooper from the Cartersville Post of the Georgia State Patrol responded to the area to assist with the pursuit. The trooper discharged his firearm during the incident, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to conduct an independent investigation of the officer-involved shooting. The Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Office of Professional Standards will also conduct an internal investigation. The trooper was not injured in this incident. The origins and final destination of the chase were not released.
