Cartersville, GA; April 21, 2015:  Local March of Dimes volunteers will man the intersections of N. Erwin Street/Church Street and N. Erwin Street/Cherokee Street in downtown Cartersville on Friday and Saturday to raise awareness and accept donations for the Bartow County March of Dimes.  The volunteers, representing various area businesses that support March of Dimes, will be easy to spot, as they will be holding purple buckets and oversized baby bottles for donation collection.

“We plan to have volunteers stationed at two major downtown intersections from 2 until 6 p.m. on Friday and from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday,” said Deborah Sexton, 2015 Bartow County March of Dimes Chairperson.  “Our goal is to educate our community about the March of Dimes and how this wonderful organization helps moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies as well as research problems that threaten the health of babies.  Of course, we also want to raise money to support the ongoing work of the March of Dimes.”

The “Buckets & Bottles” fundraiser precedes the annual signature fundraising event, “March for Babies”, which is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at Dellinger Park.  This year’s “March for Babies” will feature 2 year old Kaiya Chastain, 2015 Bartow County Ambassador, an inflatable for children, clown, face painting, children’s activities, team T-Shirt contest, hoola hoop contest, balloon release ceremony, DJ, music, food and the walk.  Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the walk begins at 6 p.m.
