Secretary of State Robyn A. Crittenden announced the close of qualifying for the Special Republican Primary on December 18th in Georgia House District 14. Four candidates – Ken Coomer, Nickie Leighly, Mitchell Scoggins, and Nathan Wilson – have qualified to run for the Republican nomination to replace former State Representative and now Georgia Court of Appeals Judge Christian Coomer.

On October 31st, State Representative Christian Coomer withdrew from the race to accept Governor Nathan Deal’s appointment to the state’s Court of Appeals.

The Special Republican Primary will be held on December 18th in the parts of Bartow and Floyd counties comprising Georgia House District 14 to fill the party’s nomination. A run-off, if needed, is set for January 15th.

Tuesday, November 27th is the last day to register to vote for all persons seeking to vote in the Special Republican Primary Election.

Qualifying for the special primary was held at 3110 Maple Drive, Suite 150, in Atlanta. The dates and hours of qualifying were Monday, November 19th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday, November 21st beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. The qualifying fee was $400.00.
