Kingston’s former city clerk is in the Bartow County Jail accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the city of Kingston.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michelle Jones at her home Thursday afternoon. Officials with the GBI office say an investigation began in 2012 at the request of the city’s police chief. The GBI’s office has turned over documents alleging that Jones stole $30,000 from the city. The investigation is ongoing and evidence will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for prosecution.
