CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Bartow County of a traffic shift on State Route (SR) 113 at Old Stilesboro Road/Taft Road, scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2015.  Traffic will be shifted from the eastbound lanes to newly constructed westbound lanes beginning at the intersection of SR 113 with Old Stilesboro Road/Taft Road and extending to Raccoon Creek.

“We certainly hope that all motorists watch out for this traffic shift and be extra cautious, while approaching this work zone,” said DeWayne Comer, district engineer at the DOT office in Cartersville. “This project may be causing the public some inconvenience, but upon completion, it will improve the flow of traffic on SR 113, make it safer, and help the public get where they need to go in Bartow County,” Comer explained.

This construction operation is part of a 3.777-mile project of widening and reconstruction on SR 113, beginning west of Taft Road and extending to east of Old Alabama Road. It also includes the relocation of Old Alabama Road and construction of three bridges and their approaches within the project’s limits. This project has been under construction since February 2013, and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2015, at a construction cost of $16,920,379.
