CARTERSVILLE – The Cartersville Downtown Development Authority is excited to announce details for the first downtown Photo Scavenger Hunt. This scavenger hunt will take participants on a journey of downtown Cartersville by challenging them with a list of creative photos to be taken of him or herself, hence the word “Selfie,” at various downtown businesses and locations.

The Downtown Cartersville “Selfie” Photo Scavenger Hunt will take place the week of April 25- May 2. Participants will have a week to attempt as many of the photo challenges as they can. The challenges will be assigned point values depending on difficulty. For instance, one challenge could be, “Take a selfie sitting on the stage at Friendship Plaza” for one point. Or, “Take a selfie eating dinner at your favorite downtown restaurant” for 3 points.  Participants may enter the contest by either emailing all of his or her photos OR bringing his or her camera/phone to the depot to let the judges score the photos. The participant with the most points will be announced the week of May 5, and will receive a $100 VISA gift card.

“The scavenger hunt will be a great excuse to bring family and friends to restaurants, shops, and other attractions here in Downtown Cartersville,” said Special Events Coordinator Catherine Woods. “Additionally, May is Historic Preservation Month, so it will also help teach people in our community a little more about the extensive history of downtown.”

This is a completely free event and no registration is required. All participants have to do is simply print off a list of the challenges and complete as many as they can before turning in to Cartersville Downtown Development Authority by Friday May 2 at 5 PM to be scored. Participants can either email their photos to cwoods@downtowncartersville.org, or stop by the Cartersville Welcome Center, located at 1 Friendship Plaza in downtown Cartersville.

“You will be able to find the list of challenges on our website: www.downtowncartersville.org or our Facebook page, Downtown Cartersville, on April 25,” said Catherine Woods. “It will also be available for pick up at the Cartersville Welcome Center. We are hoping that this will be a fun way for patrons to discover new things about downtown Cartersville.”
