The Cass Colonels (1-0) opened up their 2016 season against the Adairsville Tigers (0-2) at Tiger Stadium in Adairsville Friday night and won in style. The Cass defense shutout the Tigers offense and Cass threw three touchdowns in the Colonels’ 34-0 win.

Laizon West had two receiving touchdowns on screen plays and Devin Pritchett scored the other touchdown on a slant pass. Junior Running back Demarco MOore added a late fourth quarter touchdown to give the COlonels the 34-0 victory. Anhonty Robledo added a 41-yard field goal in the second quarter and a 43-yeard field goal in the fourth quarter, to add the kickers’ already impressive reputation.

Adairsville struggled to move the ball inside Colonel territory but a fumble at the Cass 41-yard line late in the third quarter and an interception thrown by quarterback Roger Redd in the fourth quarter all but sealed the fate for Adairsville.

Junior Running back Christian Steele for Adairsville had some impressive runs, but the Adairsville offensive line was unable to push the Cass front seven backwards, thus limiting his yards.

Adairsville will travel to Model next week, while Cass will welcome sonoraville. You can hear the Colonels game next week via the online stream of Bartow Sports Zone with Charles Wilson and Brad Stevens.
