The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (2-0) built off their success from two weeks ago against Allatoona and beat the Calhoun Yellow Jackets on the road Friday night by a score of 56-0.

The Purple Hurricanes started off scoring early and often against the Yellow Jackets, as Avery Showell scored on a touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence, one of the two connections the pair would have in the game. On the next possession, Trey Creamer found the endzone for his first of four touchdowns on the evening and Cartersville never looked back.

At the half, Avery Showell had two touchdowns and Trey Creamer had three, as Cartersville led 35-0.

The Cartersville defense proved to be stingy again in the second half, but it appeared as though Calhoun was also up for the challenge as both defenses wouldn’t budge. All that changed when Trace Fezzia scored on a 37-yard touchdown screen pass from Lawrence. Following the score, Calhoun muffed the kickoff return, which set up Trey Creamer for his fourth touchdown on the day.

Fezzia found the endzone once more on a pick-6, and that completed the shutout of Calhoun.

Cartersville will host Westlake next week at 7:30 and can be heard on AM 1450 WBHF also on FM 100.3, with pregame coverage coming your way at 6:00.
