Update: The police unit was being driven by Sarah Johnson, age 26.  The Cadillac was being driven by Patricia Popham, age 77, from Cartersville. Her passenger was Malia Lewis, age 4, from Cartersville. Charges are pending.

Everyone involved in accident on West Avenue Wednesday morning has been taken to the hospital.  According a spokesperson with the Georgia State Patrol, the preliminary indication is that a Cartersville PD unit was responding to an emergency call to assist another officer.  At Lee St., a 1990 Cadillac Deville attempting to cross West Ave, pulled into the path of the PD unit and the patrol car hit the Cadillac in the rear left door.  The police officer and the juvenile passenger in the Cadillac were both transported to Cartersville Medical, and the driver of the Cadillac was taken to Floyd Medical.  

 

It appears that Euharlee’s Police Chief suffered minor injuries in this morning’s accident on Euharlee road.  GSP officials say that Alex Jordan Rouse, age 18, from Euharlee was driving a 2002 Chrysler Concorde when he struck the Police Chief, Terry Harget while he was directing traffic on foot.  Mr. Rouse was charged with Failure to Obey Authorized Person Directing Traffic. The chief suffered minor injuries. This happened around 7:30 a.m.
