Doraville Police arrested 35-year-old Tavares Zavoyd Atwell of Cartersville and turned him over to Cartersville Police Wednesday afternoon on charges of family violence murder with malice, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Atwell is a suspect in the shooting death of 29-year-old Julia Taniesha Malachi of Cartersville in a room at Parkway North on Joe Frank Harris Parkway at around 9:30 Tuesday night.
Atwell appears to have a long arrest record in Fulton County dating back to 2012. Charges range from drug possession to armed robbery. He was arrested in Bartow County in 2018 and charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
