Richard Casey Jones

First responders were dispatched to a residence on Timber Ridge Drive in Cartersville on Tuesday afternoon in reference to an overdose.

A woman stated she came home and found her son Richard Jones lying on the floor of their basement unconscious with an unknown white powder in his hands.

Once he became conscious, Jones spoke with fire personnel and sheriff’s deputies and admitted to having a pistol in his waistband. The gun was recovered and cleared by deputies. A further search of Jones was conducted and a small bag containing a white powder was found in his left pocket. Jones stated it was cocaine. Another small bag containing broken white pills was located in his right pocket as well as a digital scale.

Jones was escorted to the ambulance and transported to Cartersville Medical Center by EMS.

The small bag containing the suspected cocaine was weighed at 3.7 grams. The amount of pills in the bag was undetermined due to the pills being broken into small pieces.

Richard Jones was booked into the Bartow County Jail on Wednesday afternoon for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance in schedule four.

Jones was also booked into the jail on April 2nd for possession of a weapon during commission of certain crimes, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of sale of a controlled substance, two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of methamphetamine.
