The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (6-0, 2-0) showed no signs of a lagging offense a week after a 1-point victory over Cedartown, as the Canes defeated Central-Carroll by a score of 45-10 on Friday evening.
The game looked odd to start for Cartersville, which fumbled on its opening drive. On the next play, the Cartersville defense got the ball right back from Central-Carroll, which set up a Harrison Allen touchdown run. With 3:35 left in the first quarter, Quante Jennings would score his first rushing touchdown on the evening and give Cartersville a 14-0 first quarter lead.
Cartersville scored again with 6:49 left in the second quarter as Tee Webb hit Dadrian Dennis for Webb’s first passing score of the night, but it extended the Cartersville lead to 21-0.
For another week, Sunni Moorehead had an interception that was just a few yards away from being a pick-six. The Cartersville offense would hit the end zone on the first play of that drive for Jennings’ second score. Webb would find Trendon Horton for his second touchdown connection of the night from 12 yards out and Oscar Hernandez would hit a 37-yard field goal to give the Canes a 38-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, both teams would exchange touchdowns with a running clock.
Webb finished the night 16-20 passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns.
Cartersville will host Lagrange next week at 7:30 from Weinman Stadium.
