The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes concluded their non-region schedule with a 28-7 win over the Cherokee Warriors on Friday night.

Cartersville led 21-0 after one half of football, with both sides of the ball making its presence know. Quante Jennings scored two touchdowns in the game’s first two quarters, but Devonte Ross might have stolen the highlights with a couple of big catches, one of which resulted in a third-quarter touchdown.

Marquail Coaxum made a big play for the Cartersville defense with 3:24 left in the first quarter. He forced a fumble off a completed pass, which was then scooped up by Jadon Martin, who returned it 20 yards for a touchdown.

Cherokee did march down the field in just under seven minutes to cut the game to 21-7, but Webb’s 65-yard touchdown pass neutralized the Warriors score.

Cartersville will be back at Weinman Stadium next Friday at 7:30 as it hosts Cedartown for its first region game of 2019.
