Canes logoCartersville’s baseball season comes to an end, getting swept by Buford by a score of 10-0 in game #1 (a game that ended in the 5th inning by the mercy rule) and 10-3 at the end of game #2.

It’s not secret the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes are a very young team and that 3-game stand against Wayne County last week was a grueling one, yet they battled through all of the adversity and found themselves among the four best teams in the state. The faced off against the Buford Wolves at home at Richard Bell Field and that is where they just didn’t have anymore gas in the tank to propel them further.

It was an amazing run and this team will be one year older and wiser this time next year. Given what they accomplished this season, it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine another meeting of these two teams next year in playoff action. Congratulations to head coach Stuart Chester and the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes for great season.
