Cartersville, GA – August 19, 2019 – Jump on the bus and join the Bartow History Museum for our next historic bus tour excursion! This year we will venture out of Bartow County as we travel north to Chickamauga Battlefield along the Georgia-Tennessee border. Dr. Keith Hebert, Bartow native and Auburn University History Professor, will lead the tour as we explore the Battle of Chickamauga through the eyes of those who fought in one of the bloodiest clashes of the American Civil War. “Whether you are a Civil War buff or someone who is simply interested in learning more about Georgia history, we are excited to have you be a part of this day.”, states Trey Gaines, Museum Director. Tickets will include charter bus, snacks, lunch, admissions, and more. Members receive a 10% discount. Tickets are $55 for adults, $50 for seniors and $45 for students. Please be at the museum at 8:15 a.m. The bus is scheduled to depart at 8:30 a.m. and will return to the museum at approximately 4:00 p.m.
About the Speaker
Keith Hebert is associate professor of history at Auburn University and author of The Long Civil War in the North Georgia Mountains: Bartow County, Georgia. In 2019, his book received an award from the American Library Association as one of the year’s best works of history. Keith grew up in Bartow County where he attended school in Kingston and graduated from Adairsville High School. He is currently writing a biography of Confederate Vice President Alexander H. Stephens of Georgia.
