Cartersville Civic Center will host a Blood Assurance Holiday Heroes blood drive on Wednesday, November 26 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Cartersville Civic Center is located at 435 West Main Street in Cartersville, Georgia. Blood Assurance is holding several Holiday Heroes blood drives throughout its service area in an effort to boost the blood supply during the holiday season, which tends to be a difficult time to keep blood resources at needed supply levels.
Volunteer blood donors are heroes to patients in need of life-saving blood and blood components. Blood Assurance supplies blood to seventy healthcare facilities in forty-seven counties, including Cartersville Medical Center. Over 400 blood donors are needed every day in order to adequately supply these hospitals.
To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. The process usually takes about 30 minutes and includes a complimentary snack and t-shirt. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids – avoiding caffeine – and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating. Your one donation can save three lives.
